HTML Script

The HTML Script Panel displays HTML parsing scripts which can be employed to scrape contents from fetched web pages. The HTML Tree Panel can be used as control to select a loaded script. When a fetched web page is received the HTML Tree panel is searched for a script matching the requested site:page which is then loaded and executed. Also when a message is selected in the message log panel belonging to an http reply a script is similarly searched, loaded, and executed. The HTML Script Panel's main purpose is to fascilitate the user authoring and testing of HTML parsing scripts. The panel runs automatically without needing to be visible running scripts on received web content, so the user only needs display the panel for the authoring and testing purpose.

HTML Script controls

• Save
  
• Goto Start
  Clear all prior script execution in preparation to step through anew. Checks the first 3 rows which contain script info do not otherwise represent executable script. Performs control actions to remove any highlight in the Message Viewer Panel and clears objects from the Message Content Panel.
• Single Step
  Execute the next unchecked executable script command. May perform control actions to the Message Viewer Panel and Message Content Panel. When completed the line just executed becomes checked and single stepping may be repeated.
• Run
  Performs the equivalent of Goto Start and repeated single step through to completion
• Add
  Add a new script command to the end
• Insert
  Insert a new script command at a selected / highlighted position
• Delete
  Delete selected / highlighted rows
• Up
  Move the selected / highlighted rows up
• Down
  Move the selected / highlighted rows down

HTML Script Entries

• sitename - Defined first row, specifies the sitename of the site:page identification for this script, and when authoring a script it defines what the filename where the script will be saved in the HTML directory (all scripts for a sitename are saved in the same script file).
• page - Defined second row, specifies the page name of the script
• port - Defined third row, specifies the port number of the script
• find - Find the next ocurrance of the specified text. Begins from the last position in the message as displayed in the highlight position shown on the Message Viewer Panel and search forward. If found, the found text is highlighted in the Message Viewer Panel.
• find_b - Find the prior ocurrance of the specified text. Begins from the last position in the message as displayed in the highlight position shown on the Message Viewer Panel and search backward. If found, the found text is highlighted in the Message Viewer Panel.
• name - Place the argument name on the next row in the Message Viewer Panel.
• text_upto - Starting from the last position in the message as displayed in the highlighted position shown on the Message Viewer Panel, collect text moving forward up to the terminator argument of the text_upto command. Place the scraped text into the Message Content Panel table.
• web_text - Requires no argument. Starting from the last position in the message as displayed in the highlighted position shown on the Message Viewer Panel, collect text moving forward up to the next '<' character. Place the scraped text into the Message Content Panel table. Performs the same function as text_upto '<'.
